Comhairle success at Scottish National Renewable Energy Awards

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar have been Awarded First Prize for the level of Combined Heat and Power installed (CHP) at the Scottish Renewable Energy Awards.

Comhairle Leader, Angus Campbell, said: “I am pleased that the work being done by the Comhairle in the area of Community Renewables has been recognised in this manner. Although this award is for CHP, the Comhairle’s involvement in Community Renewable Energy is widespread and we will strive to improve and develop this area in partnership with local communities, to provide a brighter and more sustainable future for our islands.”

A spokesperson for Community Energy Scotland said, “Councils and communities have shown they mean business, taking control of locally owned renewables for their future. This has been reflected in the strength of competition and the high levels of support from Councils across Scotland and the Scottish Government. The importance of these awards is clear, communities are making a difference.”
