The new Marina in North Uist will be officially opened by HRH The Princess Royal.
Princess Anne will travel to the island to open the Comann Na Mara facility in Lochmaddy on Tuesday, September 2nd.
The opening ceremony will begin at 11am and all members of the community are invited to meet at the marina to join in with the celebrations. The event will include local pipe bands, pupils singing from Lochmaddy, Paible and Carinish Schools and three Gaelic Precentors.
The revamp of Lochmaddy harbour - a vital link in north west sailing routes - has already attracted visitors from around the world by increasing moorings as well as capacity for cruise liners.
The development includes pontoons with 26 berths and floating walkways, lighting and electricity, and a car and bus park.
Comann na Mara was the first organisation in the UK to secure a Local Management Agreement (LMA) from the Crown Estate which help local organisations directly manage areas of seabed and foreshore. The £400,000 development was funded by the Crown Estate.
