A high-level strategic Community Economic Development Conference is to be held in Stornoway on Wednesday 10 October, hosted by Comhairle nan Eilean Siar.

The Conference will provide an opportunity for a range of agencies and organisations responsible for delivering community economic development services to present and co-ordinate their future strategic objectives.

It is hoped that through this Conference delegates will develop a greater understanding of objectives.

The Conference will focus on the wider community economic development agenda and seeking to develop a more cohesive, integrated strategy, with a more coordinated approach to shared resources, including future European funding.

Cllr Archie Campbell, Chairman of the CnES Sustainable Development Committee said: “The Comhairle is looking forward to hosting the forthcoming Community Economic Development Conference, entitled ‘Developing Stronger Communities Together’ - which it is hoped will provide the opportunity for a range of partner and stakeholder organisations to begin developing a more strategic and coordinated approach to the wider community economic development agenda in future years.”

Among those confirmed as giving presentations at the Conference are: Alasdair Allan MSP; Highlands & Islands Enterprise; Community Land Scotland; Cothrom; Community Energy Scotland; the Third Sector Interface and Comhairle nan Eilean Siar.
