Police in Ross-shire can confirm a report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal following the arrest of a 46 year-old man for drug offences, after a search was conducted in Ullapool at the weekend.
Commenting on the incident, Ullapool based Local Policing Sergeant Kay MacRae said: “On Saturday 6th December, local officers acted on information received from the community and searched a vehicle in the village with the assistance from the Dog Unit.
“Following a positive search for controlled drugs, a man from the Glasgow area was arrested.
“As we approach the busy festive period, local officers would like to remind all residents and visitors that the use and supply of controlled drugs remains totally unacceptable.
“Drug abuse can blight the lives of individuals not to mention entire communities, often exploiting the most vulnerable members of society. I would urge anyone with concerns related to drug activity in the local area to contact police on 101 in the first instance.
“We will always act on information received from the local community, as demonstrated by Saturday’s incident. We all have a repsonsibility to report suspicious behaviour to ensure our community is kept as safe as possible for everyone.”
