Police have named the woman who died in a road accident on Harris yesterday (Thursday) as 26 year old Lorna Macdonald of Cross Street, Stornoway.
Lorna was a Speech Therapist at NHS Western Isles.
The accident happened around 4pm on the A859 when the car left the road and entered a loch near to Horsacleit Lodge, Harris.
An extensive recovery operation including Police, Highlands and Islands Fire and Rescue Service and Coastguard personnel was conducted and Ms Macdonald was removed from the vehicle and conveyed to the Western Isles Hospital by ambulance but sadly died.
NHS Western Isles Chief Executive Gordon Jamieson said: “All staff working in NHS Western Isles I am sure will join me in extending our heartfelt sympathy to the family of Lorna for their sudden and tragic loss.”
