Talks took place today (Monday) between CalMac and two unions in an attempt to come to some agreement ahead of Friday’s planned day of strike action.

Today’s talks have been described as ‘positive’ between RMT - whose members plan to strike on Friday - and TSSA - who are currently balloting their members on a potential action and the ferry operator.

Discussions are due to continue tomorrow (Tuesday) but CalMac say they have no choice but to start amending bookings and timetables.

A CalMac spokesman said:

“Talks are ongoing and we have agreed to meet the RMT and TSSA again tomorrow.

“There a number of things we wish to reflect on, however, as the RMT have indicated their intention to press ahead with strike action on Friday ( July 10) we have no option but to start changing bookings and customers will be contacted directly.

“We remain fully committed to operating as many services as we can on Friday in order to minimise any disruption and the latest service information will be made available on our website www.calmac.co.uk and via social media.”
