Fishing vessel in distress

Stornoway Coastguard helicopter attended a call out to a fishing vessel in difficulty in Badcall Bay, Scourie on Monday afternoon.

Coastguards received a call from tourists who had seen a red flare and the coastguard then made contact with a fishing vessel, the Sarah-Louise, which had its propellers fouled with gear very close in to the shore and getting into difficulty. A distress call was lodged and Lochinver Lifeboat and the Coastguard helicopter from Stornoway were launched. A vessel nearby went to the aid of the fishing boat and managed to free them.
