An Amber Flood Alert has been issued for Western Isles, with wet and windy weather expected throughout the region today (Thursday 22nd).
The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) issued the warning. There is risks of surface water flooding in built up areas and on the road network as well as a risk of flooding from rivers and small watercourses.
SEPA said they will continue to monitor the situation and urge residents to remain vigilant. Advice and information is available through Floodline on 0845 9881188.
The CalMac Ullapool-Stornoway ferry has been disrupted due to the adverse weather. The 7am sailing left Stornoway an hour and a half late, which will cause a knock on delay to the remainder of todays sailings.
