Have your say

Iomairt Ghàidhlig Iar Thuath Leòdhais is delivering Gaelic classes across the Isle of Lewis (Ness, Barvas and Shawbost/Carloway) in order to introduce learners to the language.

These classes will be free of charge to those attending. The classes will run for six weeks and are aimed at beginners.

They aim to provide learners with vocabulary and conversational skills, with the intention of building a foundation for further learning of the language.

At the end of the six weeks, it is hoped a local learners’ group will be established to plan and co-ordinate the way forward.

Along with the learning method delivered through these classes, there will also be an opportunity to take part and sample the Ulpan method of learning.

Iomairt Ghàidhlig Iar Thuath Leòdhais is working in partnership with the Community Education Department, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and Lews Castle College in the delivery of these classes.

Classes will begin at the following venues and times:

Barvas – Wednesday (beginning 26th January) - 7.30 – 9pm, An Taigh Ceilidh

Ness – Thursday (beginning 27th January) - 7.30 – 9pm, Spòrs Nis

Shawbost/Carloway – Thursday (beginning 27th January) - 7.30 – 9pm

Information regarding venue for Shawbost/Carloway will be circulated nearer the time.
