Two bottles recovered from the SS Politician - which sank near Eriskay in 1941 - are going under the hammer.

The bottles, which were part of the 28,000 cases of whisky on board the ship, were recovered in 1987 by diver Donald MacPhee, from South Uist,

The lot is described as “incredibly scarce” providing a “rare opportunity to obtain a real piece of Scottish history” by auction website Scotch Whisky Auctions.

The current winning bid stands at £2750 (Tuesday 30th) and bids close on May 5th.
