Below is reporter Michelle Robson’s festive baking treat - Christmas cookies.
Christmas Cookie recipe
55g caster sugar, plus extra to finish
180g plain flour
tubes of coloured icing
First of all I heated the oven to 190C before beating the butter and the sugar together until smooth.
The next step was to stir in the flour to get a smooth paste, turn the mixture onto the work surface and gently roll out until about 1cm thick.
I used Christmas cutters to shape the cookies, sprinkled with caster sugar and chilled in the fridge for 20 minutes.
After they came out of the fridge I baked them in the oven for 15-20 minutes, until golden brown. When cool I decorated the cookies - which was the fun bit.
Hints and tips: Keep and eye on the cookies while in the oven because they do cook quickly.
