The Lewis Car Club ‘Hebridean Rally’ has raised over £80,000 for the Western Isles branch of Macmillian Cancer Support – an it is hoped that the seventh Rally, taking place this Saturday (August 16th) will boost that total.
The event is again sponsored by Aries 13, a cancer charity aiming to advance methods of detecting early stages of cancer.
The Rally weekend kicks off on Friday evening with scrutineering at DR Macleod’s yard on Island Road, where the cars will be checked over to ensure they meet safety requirements.
Friday also sees the chance for you to take part in the Rally as Dave Ross has offered to put his co-driver seat in his legendary Metro 6R4 up for auction – and the winning bidder will get to sit alongside Dave for the seven stages on Saturday, as well as a ticket to the after-rally dinner.
On Saturday morning the Rally starts with Stages 1 and 2 in the Castle Grounds before moving to Melbost Farm with Stages 3, 4 and 5; to finish with Stages 6 and 7 at the Creed Motorsport track.
The Rally shop this year is located on Cromwell Street (opposite Stornoway Town Hall) and opening hours are 12noon to 5pm all week.
You can pick up a free Rally Programme and buy your Rally wristband tickets, priced £10, which give access to all three stages on Saturday, or payment on the gate at £5 per stage on the day.
Also available to purchase are Rally hoodies and t-shirts. All rally information is inside the programme and please pay attention to safety articles; and on the day please pay attention to any instructions or requests from the safety marshals – they have a duty to look after you, keeping you safe and out of harm’s way so we can all enjoy The Hebridean Rally!
