Girlguiding Western Isles has seen a 43% growth in membership in the past year, with girls, young women and volunteers now enjoying guiding across the islands each week.

From Lewis to Barra we have been successfully growing guiding by opening new units, holding recruitment events for volunteers and putting on even more fun and exciting events for members, including this year’s spectacular Gang Show in Stornoway.

Across the UK, the total membership now stands at 546,406, up from 538,247 – reflecting a growing demand among girls and young women for a space of their own.

Girlguiding Western Isles Commissioner Linda Mackay said: “We’re absolutely delighted that more and more girls are choosing to join us and make the most of the amazing experiences, activities and friendships guiding in the Western Isles can bring.”
