Honours for Coastguards

Long service honours were awarded to dedicated Coastguard staff and volunteers from the Western Isles this week who between them have racked up hundreds of years service to helping protect the people of the isles.

Calum Buchanan, Stornoway CRT, was awarded the 20 year Long Service Medal Foreman for the Western Isles Council; Robert Mackinnon, Tarbert CRT, was awarded the 20 year Long Service Medal; Joe Campbell, Stornoway CRT, was awarded the 30 year Clasp to the Long Service Medal; Angus Glen, Stornoway CRT, was presented with 20 year Long Service Medal; Paul Tyler, Miavaig CRT, was awarded the 30 year Clasp to the Long Service Medal; Donald Gunn, Tarbert CRT, was presented with the Valedictory Certificate for 35 years service; John Struthers, Tarbert CRT, was presented with the Valedictory Certificate for 11-years service; Jim McCulloch, Breasclete CRT, was presented with the Valedictory Certificate for 35 years service; Willie Neish, Kirkwall CRT, and Ian Lindsey, Sector Manager Orkney were both presented with honours for 40 years and 20 years service respectively while Carol Collins, Watch Manager Stornoway MRCC was awarded with her own 20 year Long Service Medal.
