The public are advised that works are to be carried out at Western Isles Hospital, which will cause some disruption.
Firstly, the carpets are being replaced to the Level 3 corridor and main stairwell from Monday, November 30th. To allow these works to be done, visiting to Medical 1, Surgical and Maternity wards will need to end at 8.30pm for the week commencing November 30th.
Also, work is to begin on the helipad, with the contractors saying they are in a position to start work next Monday (again, November 30th).
The work, which is weather dependent, is expected to take four weeks – during which the helipad will be off-limits to aircraft – and there will be associated works to the roads and car parks.
The roadworks will take about two weeks as it is intended to do this work a little at a time in order to minimise disruption.
During this time, there will be a reduction of parking capacity of up to 40% at times so the public are asked to avoid driving to, and parking at, the hospital, if at all possible.
