Island acts up for Scots Trad Music Awards

The Western Isles are well represented in this year’s nominations for the MG Alba Scots Music Awards.

Ness Melodeon Band are nominated in the Club of Year category alongside Banchory Accordion and Fiddle Club; Folklub (Glasgow) and Milngavie Folk Group.

Two island ladies are nominated in the Gaelic Singer of the Year category – Linda Macleod from North Uist and Sineag Macintyre from South Uist.

James Duncan Mackenzie from Lewis is nominated in the Instrumentalist of the Year category.

Lewis-based MacTV are also nominated in the Trad Music in the Media section for their Horo Gheallaidh programme.
