AN out of court settlement has been offered to a Contractor who tendered for the Comhairle’s Winter Maintenance work.
The Contractor launched a legal case against the Comhairle and negotiations have been ongoing for some time.
The figure is suggested to be around £250,000, however this was not confirmed by the Comhairle.
A statement from a Comhairle spokesperson said: “This is an ongoing legal matter between the Comhairle and a Contractor who had tendered for winter maintenance work. The Chief Executive was authorized to enter into negotiations with the tenderer at the December series of meeting and the outcome of these negotiations was reported to the Policy and Resources Committee yesterday. After careful consideration of the tender process the Comhairle agreed to offer an out of court settlement. This offer has not as yet been formally accepted. We therefore cannot say anything further at this stage.”
The situation was discussed in private at last week’s Comhairle meetings.
