Leverburgh lifeboat called out to Sound of Harris

Leverburgh Lifeboat, RNLB Royal Thames was called on Saturday evening to assist two people, and their dog, who had become marooned on the island of Killegray in the Sound of Harris. Their 19ft vessel, had suffered damage and was taking on water.

Volunteer Lifeboat crew reached the island at 7.50pm and two crew members went ashore in the station tender. They retrieved the people and their dog ‘Jenny’ and brought them safely aboard the Lifeboat.

The crew of the RNLB Royal Thames made their way back to Leverburgh, where the couple and their dog were safely put ashore.

The Lifeboat was refuelled and ready for service again at 8.30pm.

This is the 16th shout for Leverburgh Lifeboat since being made operational on May 11th 2012.
