Stornoway RNLI were delighted with a donation of £600 from the Lewis and Harris Sports Council recently.

The money was raised through a Quiz Night held in Stornoway Golf Club which attracted twenty teams, including Quiz winners Sahara Kayakers.

Funds were also boosted by a raffle held on the night, with prizes generously donated by local businesses and companies.

Pictured with the volunteer lifeboat crew are Lewis and Harris Sports Council Chair Tod MacDonald and Vice Chair Lesley Graham who presented the cheque to Lifeboat Operations Manager John M MacDonald.

It costs £385,000 a day to run the lifesaving RNLI charity - but on average 22 people a day are rescued by the volunteer crews around the UK and Northern Ireland coasts.

And you can keep up to date with the Stornoway crew on their Facebook page.
