The Gaelic Department at Lews Castle College will be offering two brand new, full-time further education courses, starting from September 2012.
NC Celtic Studies is a one year, bursary funded course, which will be delivered through the medium of English and is aimed at students who want to learn more about the diverse field of Celtic Studies. Subjects studied will include literature, archaeology, folklore, history and culture, as well as Gaelic language at various levels.
In addition to this, Lews Castle College is also offering An Cùrsa Bogaidh, a one year further education course, intended for those who wish to learn Gaelic. Students on this course will also have the opportunity to study aspects of contemporary Gaelic culture.
Commenting on these new developments, Lews Castle College’s Principal, Iain MacMillan said: “I’m delighted that we are able to offer two new courses for the coming academic year. Gaelic language and culture should be at the heart of what we do as a College serving the Outer Hebrides and these courses demonstrate our continuing commitment to that end.”
