After another fire in Lews Castle Grounds yesterday (Wednesday), Stornoway Trust say they fear the series of fires over the past two weeks have been started deliberately.
A statement from the Trust today said: “Fire broke out yesterday at a new location in the Castle Grounds at around 2pm. Emergency services and Trust staff attended and by 7pm the fire was under control. Services stood down at 8.30pm. Stornoway Trust continue to request extreme care in the Castle grounds due to the very dry conditions. The frequency and different locations of fires means they are being treated as suspicious.”
