A supplier briefing for firms interested in opportunities arising from the Lews Castle Museum and Archive project has been arranged by Comhairle nan Eilean Siar.
The event will take place on Wednesday, May 23rd in the Comhairle Offices (Committee Room 3), Sandwick Road, Stornoway with a video conference link to the Comhairle Offices in Balivanich.
Representatives from the design team and project manager, the Comhairle, Highlands and Islands Enterprise and Construction Skills will be in attendance.
The £13.5 million project involves refurbishment and conversion of the Castle for hospitality use and the construction of a new museum and archive. A contract for initial repairs to the exterior fabric of the Castle was let in February 2012 and work has recently commenced on site.
Subject to the final element of funding being secured, it is anticipated that the Comhairle will let the main contract towards the end of 2012 or early in 2013.
Firms interested in attending the briefing event should contact Iain Macleod, Economic Development Services for further details.
