Stornoway RNLI launched on Friday, August 28th, at 10pm to the aid of a fishing vessel with a fouled propeller situated around three miles east of Tiumpan.

On arrival, the RNLI crew secured a tow line and towed the casualty to the safety of Stornoway Harbour. The lifeboat was alongside at 4am.

The volunteer crew had little rest before the ‘Tom Sanderson’ RNLI lifeboat launched again on Saturday, August 29th, at around 1pm.

The local lifesavers launched to the aid of a Swiss yacht with a fouled rudder situated around eight miles west of Rhure.

The RNLI crew secured a tow and, as the yacht was towed to harbour, the rudder was cleared.

At Stornoway Harbour the tow was broken and the yacht continued to berth under her own steam. The lifeboat was back alongside by 6pm.
