ALLAN AND MACNEIL WELCOME LAUNCH OF GOVERNMENT'S GAELIC PLAN.

WESTERN Isles MSP Alasdair Allan and MP Angus MacNeil have welcomed the launch of the Scottish Government's draft Gaelic plan for consultation.

Mr Allan was among a number of speakers who took part in the debate in Parliament, Mr Allan who spoke in Gaelic during the debate said that this was only the beginning, and that the whole of the Gaelic world will take part in this consultation.

Mr Allan said:

"The Government will give strong support to Gaelic in the community by increasing its use in the home, the amount that is received in education, and the amount that is spoken in the community.

"The plan says that the Government will maintain the specific grants system to provide funding for Gaelic units and build new schools –if, that is, the Government's budget receives support at long last.

"I hope that the whole of the Gaelic world will take part in this consultation."

Angus MacNeil said:

"This is another important step for the development of Gaelic, I would like to congratulate the Government for launching the draft Gaelic plan, and I now hope that all those with the interest of Gaelic will take part in this consultation.
