The Christmas Lights in Perceval Square in Stornoway were switched on last night (Thursday).
The weather was surprisingly festive with snow falling as crowds gathered in the town centre for the occasion.
Due to funding constraints there are less lights in town this year but a heavy dose of community spirit meant the switch on event still went ahead with Stornoway Amenity Trust joining up with a group of young people led by Jane Hepburn and Syber Promotions to hold the event.
There was a minute’s silence for the victims of the Clutha tragedy in Glasgow and a collection was held for the Appeal Fund set up by Glasgow City Council.
After the formalities there were performances by the Sharon Mackinnon Dancers; the Lynne Maclean Dancers; pipers from Lewis Pipe Band and then a street ceilidh.
