Controlled fires in Lews Castle Grounds

Contractors working for Stornoway Trust are carrying out controlled fires in Lews Castle Grounds as part of their Rhododendron clearance programme.

This is an ongoing programme and fires will be seen in the Grounds over the coming weeks.

Factor of the Trust, Iain Maciver said: “The Trust are taking advantage of the wet conditions to carry out burning as there is no chance of fires spreading.”
