Comhairle nan Eilean Siar Member’s Allowance and Expenses for 2013/14 have been published, and the amount spent by councillors has fallen slightly.
In total £661,104.57 was spent on things like travel, subsistence and salary. The year before the figure stood at £665,326.74.
Comhairle Convenor, Cllr Norman MacDonald, had the highest expenses and salary total, standing at £42,553.01 (£22,056.05 expenses only). This was closely followed by the Comhairle Leader, Cllr Angus Campbell, whose salary and expenses total stood at £42,535.23 (£15,206.19 expenses only), this was down by about £1,500 from the year before.
The councillor with the lowest expenses spend was Point councillor Zena Stewart, whose total expenses amounted to £398.14 for 2013/14.
In all ten councillors did not claim any millage expenses, while four did not claim any subsistence expenses over the period.
