Education Secretary to visit Western Isles
EDUCATION Secretary Michael Russell will see Curriculum for Excellence in action at nurseries, schools and a college during a visit to the Western Isles and Skye next week.
Beginning his visit in Barra on Monday, Mr Russell will launch a new DVD designed to help Gaelic Medium early years staff make the most of Curriculum for Excellence at Croileagan Children's Centre.
Mr Russell will then visit South Uist and Benebecula on Tuesday, where he will open a new facility for work based courses and find out more about the Crofting Connections project at Sgoil Lionacleit before taking questions from parents, pupils and teachers at an Engage for Education roadshow in Benbecula.
Finally on September 1, the Education Secretary will launch NESTA's iDiscover programme at Portree Secondary School, before moving on to Sabhal Mor Ostaig where he will launch CalMac's new toolkit to help staff learn Gaelic.
