A flood alert has been issued for Western Isles.

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) issued the warning this afternoon (Friday).

Very strong winds have the potential to result in large waves along western coastlines on Saturday morning, primarily along the Uists. Expected impacts are primarily spray and wave overtopping. Seas are expected to remain high into next week, though no significant impacts are currently expected. SEPA will continue to monitor the situation.
