Get ready for Parliament Day in the Western Isles

As part of the work ahead of the second Parliament Day, the Scottish Parliament will be holding a number of community-outreach sessions in the Western Isles.

The sessions - which are free to attend - will focus on how the Parliament works and how anyone can get involved. This will include information about the public petitions process, which allows people from across Scotland to petition their Parliament about the issues which matter to them.

The Parliament Day aims to take the Parliament out of Edinburgh. It allows people to see the Parliament at work, be it ‘official’ Parliamentary business, or on a less formal level and will be held in Stornoway on March 15th.

It provides an opportunity for people to meet everyone involved with the Parliament: Members, the Presiding Officer and the staff of the Parliament.

The community-outreach sessions are taking place on:

Tuesday 12 February 2013, Barra - Castlebay Hotel, 4.00 pm – 6.00 pm and 6.30 pm – 8.30 pm.

Wednesday 13 February 2013, Benbecula - Dark Island Hotel, Liniclate, 4.00 pm – 6.00 pm and 6.30 pm – 8.30 pm.

Thursday 14 February 2013, Tarbet - Harris Hotel, 3.00 pm – 5.00 pm and 6.00 pm – 8.00 pm.

Friday 15 February 2013, Stornoway - Caladh Inn, James Street 3.00 pm – 5.00 pm and 6.00 pm – 8.00 pm.
