MORE than 200 parents and children recently enjoyed a two-hour fun-filled afternoon at a special Gaelic Family Fun Afternoon arranged in partnership between Comunn na Gàidhlig and Comhairle nan Eilean Siar.

Aimed at parents keen to learn more about the options and benefits of Gaelic Medium Education, the afternoon was a tremendous success with kids enjoying fun and games while parents were given time to speak to various Gaelic organisations and learn more about what is on offer.

Gaelic Medium Education Officer Iona Mactaggart said: “The fun day was an opportunity for parents to come along and find out more about Gaelic Medium Education and the support materials available for those with and without Gaelic.

“We want to emphasise that Gaelic Medium Education is for everyone - not just for fluent speakers - and indeed many pupils currently going through Gaelic Medium come from families where there is no Gaelic in the home.

“We were delighted with the turnout and it was busy for the full two-hours with the kids having fun and the parents getting the opportunity to find out more from each organisation.”
