Harris Tweed has been prominent at the Commonwealth Games thanks to the fact that every presentation ceremony has featured medal-bearers clad in the fabric created in Shawbost by Harris Tweed Hebrides.

Over 50 uniforms were made from the striking deep blue fabric for the presentation parties.

Mark Hogarth, creative director Harris Tweed Hebrides, said: “There has been a tremendous response and all of it has been very favourable. We are delighted not only to have contributed to the success of the Games in this way but to have given Harris Tweed such a high international profile as a result. As usual, our chief designer, Ken Kennedy, came up the perfect tweed for the occasion”.

Harris Tweed Hebrides is also an official supplier to the Ryder Cup, to be held at Gleneagles in September.
