Island women recognised in Queen’s Honours

Two island women have been recognised in the Queen’s New Year Honours.

Mrs Mamie Macleod of the Lewis branch of Save the Children has been awarded an MBE for voluntary services to the Save the Children charity.

Mrs Macleod has volunteered with Save the Children for over 20 years.

Mrs Jessie MacNeil is also to be awarded the British Empire Medal for services to the community on the Isle of Barra.
