Island ‘Yes’ group to open Stornoway office

Alasdair Allan MSP says he hopes people will drop into the new office - even just for a cup of tea.

Alasdair Allan MSP says he hopes people will drop into the new office - even just for a cup of tea.

The Yes Campaign in the Western Isles will officially open their campaign base on Point Street in Stornoway on Saturday 19th July. The opening will take place at 1.30pm for a 2pm launch.

The office will officially be opened by Norrie ‘Tago’ MacIver (native of Carloway and lead singer of Manran), and all are welcome to attend.

Alasdair Allan MSP commented: “The official opening of the Yes campaign base in Stornoway will represent the Yes campaign stepping up a further gear in the islands. The campaign for a Yes vote already involves people who have never been involved in political campaigning before, and having a campaign base will allow us an even more visible presence in the islands.

“The campaign base was funded by a recent online appeal, which is still ongoing, using the pioneering crowdfundraising methods on Indiegogo, and met its target several weeks before the deadline thanks to the generosity of members of the public from across Scotland.

“I look forward to seeing people on the 19th, and am grateful that Norrie Tago has agreed to perform the official opening for us. I hope that people will drop in, whether to get information about the campaign and the benefits that independence will bring for them, or just to stop by for a cup of tea!”
