Thirty five additional staff are to be taken on by The Scottish Salmon Company (SSC) in Stornoway for an eight month period.

The company are looking to recuit 32 processing staff for their Marybank Factory and three harvest team members for their site at Arnish.

The vacancies have been created due to increased volumes for harvesting at the company’s northern region operations and will take the total employed by the company in the Western Isles to 209.

Processing Manager at Marybank, Alan Brown said: “The Scottish Salmon Company is delighted to be able to open its doors for recruitment once again.

“The number of positions available is a positive sign that the company is developing in the right direction and it is important for us to be able to include the local workforce in our success.

“Our plans to develop our business to meet the growing demand for top quality Scottish salmon worldwide will hopefully mean that many more young people can enter the industry and gain valuable experience for a fulfilling future career.”
