The latest unemployment statistics show the number of job seekers in Eilean Siar has risen slightly standing at 460 in December 2012 – a rise of 15 from November 2012.
That means 2.9% of people in the Western Isles are currently job seekers, compared to 2.8% a month earlier.
However this is lower than the same time a year ago, December 2011, when 525 people, or 3.3% of the population in Eilean Siar, were unemployed.
Nationally unemployment has fallen by 14,000 over the three month period from September to November 2012.
The Jobseekers claimant count in Scotland decreased by 1,400 over the month of December 2012, the second consecutive monthly fall.
