Western Isles SNP MSP, Alasdair Allan, has encouraged secondary schools in the Western Isles to nominate pupils for the annual Donald Stewart Memorial Awards.

This award, which is made in memory of the islands MP from 1970 to 1987, recognises outstanding achievement in any field.

Dr Allan commented: “The Donald Stewart Memorial Award remembers the much respected work of the islands former MP in a very positive way.

“It allows islands’ secondary schools to nominate a local pupil who has excelled, whether academically, or in sporting, community or cultural activities.

“I would encourage all secondary schools in the islands to make nominations and look forward to a worthy winner being recognised this year again.”

For further information on the award nomination process contact - Calum Iain Macleod, Trust Secretary, at CnaG, 71-77 Cromwell Street, Stornoway, HS1 2DG or by e-mail calumiain@cnag.org.uk.
