Cllr. Alasdair Macleod is the new Chair of Sustainable Development on Comhaile nan Eilean Siar.
Cllr. Macleod and Cllr Uisdean Robertson were both nominated for the position and Cllr Macleod was successful in the ballot by seven votes to six.
The change followed Cllr Archie Campbell’s decision to stand down as Chair of the Committee. Tributes were paid to the work of Cllr Campbell who had been Chair since 2003.
Cllr Charlie Nicolson announced that he was also standing down as Vice-Chair. He was replaced by Cllr Donald Crichton who was unopposed for the position.
Cllr Macleod, a councillor in the Sgire an Rubha ward, said: “I am delighted to have been given this honour by the Committee and we will continue to work together for the benefit of our communities throughout the Western Isles.”
