New website launched for Gaelic teachers
A NEW website for people interested in Gaelic teaching was launched at the Scottish Learning Festival at the SECC in Glasgow today (Wednesday)
www.gaelicteaching.com is part of Brd na Gidhlig's commitment to education and the recruitment of Gaelic teachers and will provide information on Gaelic education, teacher training, learning Gaelic, funding opportunities, interesting case studies and useful links to a range of education sites.
Brd na Gidhlig Acting Chief Executive, Rosemary Ward said: "Gaelic education has been one of the most rapidly developing sectors of Scottish education for over 23 years and is a major focus of the work of Brd na Gidhlig.
"We are keen to raise awareness of these opportunities and encourage new talent into the teaching profession. There has never been a better time to use your skills to teach Gaelic to the next generation. Gabh an cothrom agus thig a'theagaisg!"
Culture Minister, Linda Fabiani said: "A key commitment of the Scottish Government is to increase the place of Gaelic in our education sector and ensure the language has a sustainable future.
"This excellent new resource will help achieve that aim by signposting opportunities and encouraging a wide range of people to take up Gaelic teaching in schools and nurseries all across the country.''
