Piping Live! 2010 exclusive broadcasts on BBC ALBA
HIGHLIGHTS from the popuplar Piping Live!festival in Glasgow are to be aired in a series of exclusives on BBC ALBA.
Extensive coverage of the Piping Live! 2010, captured within four, one hour programmes, features performances from some of the top acts of the festival, including Breabach and Fred Morrison.
And an additional hour-long programme will focus on the World Pipe Band Championships which took place on Saturday, August 14.
Top Gaelic performer and musician, Uist lass Julie Fowlis, will host the festival coverage from what is one of the most exciting annual celebrations of international piping and Scottish culture.
The first programme from this year's event will be screened next weekend (Saturday, August 28) at 9pm on BBC ALBA and feature 'Suite for Alan' which blends classical music with the music of piping legend Duncan Johnstone.
And the second instalment, to air on Saturday, September 4, takes a slice of life from the street caf and Fred Morrison in concert.
The remaining Piping Live! 2010 programmes, which have been produced for BBD ALBA by Bees Nees Media, will be broadcast later in the year.
