Stornoway Gazette - a new era

editorial image

Dear Reader,

They say great things come in small packages and that is the hope for the Stornoway Gazette.

The results from our recent survey to judge whether the readership would welcome a change from a broadsheet to a tabloid format has resulted in an overall positive response.

As the readership is open to such a radical change we have decided to do a complete relaunch of the title by shaking up the design of our pages and the paper’s content.

We want to create a new, modern, fresh look for the Stornoway Gazette and have started to work on designs to better present the news and content of the paper.

However to help us get the whole formula right we need your input. We need to know your thoughts on our current regular content.

Should we have more or less sport, entertainment and community content? Should we retain our current columnists, or add more columnists? Should we have dedicated business, nature, nostalgia, church or crofting sections?

You tell us and we will listen. In our last survey you told us you wanted a bigger paper, better nostalgia content, more sport and Gaelic material. We responded by increasing our regular paper from 20 to 24 pages, we now have a dedicated sports journalist, we introduced images to our nostalgia content and created a dedicated monthly Gaelic page ‘Suil Mun Cuairt’.

With your support by the summer of 2013 a new era for the Stornoway Gazette will begin.

This is your chance to shape the future of the paper, so get in touch and let me know what you would like to see more of in your local paper.
