Stornoway staff say no to strike action

editorial image

The Communication Workers Union (CWU) revealed last week that their members had indicated in a ballot that they may take industrial action over pay and job security in regards to a proposal to franchise over 70 Post Offices – including the Stornoway main branch - to retail partners.

However the eight staff at the town’s main Post Office in Frances Street were keen to point out today that they had all voted no to the strike action.

A staff member said this afternoon: “They may have voted for strike action, but we all voted no here, we would not go on strike and leave our customers without a service.”
