The next phase of the Western Isles Hospital refurbishment process will start on Monday (January 13th), when access will be restricted to the admin corridor from opposite the hospital shop up to just past the rehabilitation corridor door.
Access restrictions will be clearly signposted and members of the public will be able to access Medical 2 directly from the rear fire exit door where a temporary path has been constructed.
Access to the Renal Unit will also be via the rear fire access road.
The current work is part of a significant refurbishment process in Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway which will be ongoing for a number of months, and will involve the replacement of the floor coverings from the hospital shop up to Erisort Ward and around to Medical 2.
At each stage in the process, access to corridors will be restricted to allow the carpets to be removed and new vinyl floor coverings to be fitted.
Temporary partitions will be installed in each corridor section to prevent access to the work site and minimise the infection control risks.
Please note that the emergency access road around the back of the hospital has been opened up for public pedestrian access.
Parking will not be permitted on the emergency access road under any circumstances.
