The Hebridean Celtic Festival got underway at full speed on Thursday with a myriad of activities and street entertainment in Stornoway town centre and at the festival arena on Lews Castle Green.
A street party atmosphere in town saw the public get involved in ceilidh dancing, whilst children tried their skills at juggling, hula hooping and spinning. At the castle grounds the hula hooping cranked up a gear, accompanied by trapeze moves, as well as some oddly dressed characters entertaining young and old alike around the grounds.
All this a marriage proposal for one romantic couple and some great performances from artists Michael Cassidy, Rachel Sermanni, Boomerang (pictured) and Donnie Munro - the sun even came out in the evening for the festivites.
For more images and reviews of this year’s festival performers see the next issue of the Stornoway Gazette out on Thursday, July 24th - you might even spot yourself in our gallery of pictures!
