Waiting for Video...

Stornoway RNLI launched yesterday (Wednesday, February 12th) at 9am to the aid of a sinking fishing vessel.

The casualty was positioned 15 miles south east of Stornoway and was taking on water.

On arrival, the ‘Tom Sanderson’ RNLI lifeboat met with Coastguard helicopter which had already transferred a pump to the stricken vessel.

It then also transferred the lifeboat pump on board.

The volunteer RNLI crew stood by and once the situation on board the fishing boat was under control, proceeded to tow the casualty back to Stornoway harbour, arriving at 1.30pm.
