Western Isles' first Civil Partnership

THE Western Isles first gay 'wedding' took place today (Monday, July 20) as island residents Andrew Robertson and Craig Atkins pledged themselves to one another in front of officials.

Long term partners, Andrew and Craig, who live in Habost, Lewis, have been together for over ten years and celebrated their union with friends and family after the Civil Partnership service.

Andrew, a Gaelic singer who has won numerous accolades at national MODs in employed with the BBC in Stornoway and presents Gaelic music show Rapal, as well as other children and youth shows.

Craig, who works as the Marketing and Audience Development officer at An Lanntair, is originally from New Zealand.
