Lochs call for Evanton Minister

Have your say

Kiltearn minister Rev Calum Iain Macleod accepted a unanimous call to a congregation on the Isle of Lewis at last night’s meeting of the Presbytery of Inverness, Lochaber and Ross.

Mr Macleod will now become the next minister of Lochs Free Church, which has been vacant since January 2011.

The call document from Lochs read: “The members and adherents of the congregation are completely unanimous in their view that the most suitable person for the charge would be Rev Calum Ian Macleod.

“There is real and tangible appreciation in the congregation of Mr Macleod’s gifts as a preacher of the gospel, arising from the engagements he had in the Lochs pulpit at the recent communion season, and also as a result of individual members hearing him preach in other congregations.”

The Western Isles Presbytery will now set a date for Mr MacLeod’s induction to his new congregation, which will probably be in January 2013.

Clerk of Inverness, Lochaber and Ross Presbytery Rev Angus MacRae said: “Presbytery wish Calum Iain and Kay MacLeod and their family great blessing as they take up the challenge of ministry in the Lochs area of Lewis, and we ask for prayer for both congregations as they look to God to meet all their needs.”

The Kiltearn Free Church congregation was received into the Free Church of Scotland from the Free Church (Continuing) in November 2010.
