The Lewis and Harris Breast Cancer Support Group (LHBCSG) were presented with their very own pink boat at an annual dinner last weekend.
The vessel, which will be known as ‘The Pink Lady’, was donated by local man Neil ‘Fallon’ Macarthur who bid for it at the ‘Pink Ball’ in London Dorchester Hotel last October.
The ‘Pink Lady’ was transported to Stornoway and will now be used to help raise awareness of breast cancer.
It will be based at the Scaladale Centre in Ardvourlie, Isle of Harris, so will get plenty of time on the water - while plans are also afoot to get a breast cancer awareness message written on the side of the vessel.
The support group had no idea Mr Macarthur was bidding for the boat, and were thrilled to be given it at their annual dinner held in Borve House Hotel on Friday 7th February.
Mary Macleod, of the LHBCSG, commented: “Now the boat has been safely transported up to Stornoway and presented to the group they are in a position to do breast cancer awareness sessions at various events throughout the year.”
She added: “The whole of the breast cancer support group would like to thank Fallon for this fantastic contribution and for his efforts in getting the boat.”
