A long established Stornoway department store has been put up for sale for £799,000.

Murdo Macleans & Sons on Cromwell Street is now for sale as a going concern.

Established in 1922, the business is something of an institution in Stornoway and as the only department store in the town, it is hoped that the much-loved shop will find a new owner.

Listed by Smith and Clough Business Associates, they state that the sale represents a ‘tremendous opportunity’ for a new owner operator.

The shop stocks a large selection of ladies and menswear and shoes; home and hardware; and gifts.
