It was a fantastic day for island choirs at the Mod in Dunoon yesterday (Tuesday).

Sir E Scott Choirs won five different trophies with the seniors winning The Mrs Campbell Blair Trophy for the Choral Unison Fluent 13-18, the Angus Ross Trophy for the highest marks in Gaelic and the Belle Campbell Trophy for the Choral Puirt a Beul Fluent 13-18.

They also won the Oban Times Challenge Trophy for Choral 2 Part Harmony Fluent 13-18.

Sir E Scott Junior Choir won the Choral Puirt a Beul U13 and lifted The Mrs Schroder Cup. They were also second in the Choral 2 part harmony Fluent U13.

Coisir Og an Rubha won the Choral Unison Fluent U13 and were presented with The Aberfoyle and District Branch Trophy. They also came second in the Choral Puirt-a-beul Fluent U13.

There were plenty other prizewinners from the Western Isles including the two Silver Medal winners Mairi Maclennan from Sgoil Mhicneaceil (The Nicolson Institute) and Alec John Morrison from Sgoil Shiaboist (Shawbost School).

Mairi and her sister Annabel won the Duet Fluent 16-18 and Sgoil a Bhac’s Daniel Macleod won the Conversation Fluent 5-6 and the Poetry Recitation Fluent 5-6.
